A Commercial Service Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing commercial cooking equipment & refrigeration systems. The on-site technician blends the best of being a building engineer with the best of being a field technician. Duties of the Commercial Refrigeration & Kitchen Equipment Technician:
Repairs and preventative maintenance: on gas and electric stoves, grills, reach-in refrigerators, walk-in coolers/freezers, tilt skillets, ovens, mixers, small appliances, hood systems, dish machines, tray conveyor belts, large ice machines, heat display plates, cold display plates, coffee machines, ice/water dispensers, minor plumbing, and any other food service-related equipment.
Equipment Diagnostics: including troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, or refrigerant-related problems. You must have a strong understanding of the systems, the ability to determine solutions, and situational awareness to accurately determine urgency and communication needs.
Refrigerant Handling: must follow safety regulations and environmental guidelines for the proper handling, recovery, and disposal of refrigerants.
Customer Service:Clear verbal and written communication is essential to explain repairs, maintenance, and system recommendations to clients.
Leadership: manage and mentor an apprentice technician to grow both their technical and customer service skills to best support you and the facility.
Documentation: keep accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and installations to track the history of the systems, plan for future maintenance, and ensure compliance with regulations.
Requirements for the Commercial HVAC Technician:
Minimum 4 years of Commercial HVAC and/or Refrigeration experience
EPA certification is required.
Journeyman License preferred.
CFESA-certified technician preferred, training available for qualified applicants.
Experience with walk-in coolers and freezers, ice machines, reach-in refrigerators, and commercial cooking is highly preferred.
Driver’s License required.
Ability to pass a background and drug test.
Must own hand and power tools.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
